MEET THE BAND
Calling Monterey county home, Meez performs original rock n roll that is melodic and groovy, at times progressive and always tight. Stylistically, their music ranges from Classic Rock to Alternative, reminiscent of Grungy Power Pop.
The band is composed of four accomplished musicians who have dedicated a majority of their lives honing their skills. Each of their songs, composed by the members themselves, is different from the rest, yet somehow cohesive to the heartfelt message of love and compassion which pervades their repertoire. Catchy lyrics, vocal harmony, and inspiring musicianship combine to form a sound that is hard to resist.
Rob Meléndez started playing bass as a teenager in 1979, learning from a local family friend in Salinas. He got a degree in music from UCSD ten years later, while singing and playing with San Diego’s Cardiff Reefers. He has written and performed on albums that reached the Billboard charts top 20 in 2014 & 2015. Locally, he jams with Hayley Jane, Harpin' Johnny, among others.
Jason Slate, as a teenager in LA area, started playing guitar in 1972.
